The Maratona dles Dolomites is a 138km course through the magnificent Dolomites region of northern Italy. The official event is held in summer each year and sees around 9000 cyclists tackle some of the most famous passes in the Dolomites.

Castelli have made this fantastic video about the event:

Each year there is a different theme for the event and in 2017 the theme is LOVE. Cyclists from many different countries make the journey to the event. Each year around half the cyclists are Italian, but German, British, Dutch and Belgian riders represent the bulk of Europeans. Riders from as far as Colombia, Japan and Kazakhstan have competed historically however.

Some of the passes the riders tackle are steeped in history with many being featured in the Giro each year. The Passo Pordoi (2239m), Campolongo (1875m), Sella (2244m), Passo Giau (2236m) and Falzarego (2117m) are just a few of the mighty cols in the event.

If you want a smaller group to cycle with, with lovely hotels and good company, we have a multi-day cycling holiday in the Dolomites that takes in many of the highlights of the official event. You can find out further information here: http://www.moreadventure.co.uk/event/dolomites-classic-passes/
